Civics Project

In 1996, Public Interest Institute developed and started distributing copies of THE IOWA CIVICS PROJECT, a twelve-unit curriculum on Iowa state and local government, to government teachers across the state. The chapters explore the historical development of government in Iowa; the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial branches of state government; Authorities, Boards, Commissions, Councils, and Districts; Local governments; education; political parties; interest groups; the mass media; voting and elections; and the rights and responsibilities of citizens.

The series is free to any government teacher or school wanting to teach this curriculum as a supplement to the government taught in the school system. If you would like to receive copies of the civics project for your students click on the link below for the order form.
