Civics Project

In 1996, Public Interest Institute developed and started distributing copies of THE IOWA CIVICS PROJECT, a thirteen-unit curriculum on Iowa state and local government, to government teachers across the state. The chapters explore the historical development of government in Iowa; the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial branches of state government; authorities, boards, commissions, councils, and districts; local governments; education; political parties; interest groups; parliamentary procedure; the mass media; voting and elections; and the rights and responsibilities of citizens.

The series is free to any government teacher or school wanting to teach this curriculum as a supplement to the government taught in the school system.
