How To Restore Federal Fiscal Sanity: The State Legislatures Hold The Key

Do The American People Want A Balanced Budget Constitutional Amendment?

Yes, by a landslide majority.  National polls consistently show more than two-thirds of the American people want to amend the U.S. Constitution to require a balanced federal budget.  This powerful and growing support, in spite of a multi-million-dollar campaign of fear and distortion by opponents of the BBA, is impressive.  Angry Americans, frightened by the monstrous mountain of national debt, are demanding, “Stop it!”

This is not a partisan issue or liberal-versus-conservative issue.  Most conservatives and Jeffersonians, regardless of party, see the urgent need for constitutional restraint on debt.  Honest liberals realize their programs are threatened by rising federal interest payments and believe it is wrong to make our children pay our debts.  America is in a desperate race between national bankruptcy and the rising tide of citizens’ demand for the Balanced Budget Amendment.
